Wildberries and Ozon handle the delivery of goods from Chinese sellers to Russian buyers themselves: the seller drops off the parcel at a marketplace warehouse within China, and the marketplace then handles transport, customs clearance, and delivery. A Russian legal entity is not required, nor are certification or «Chestny Znak» labeling. You only need a Chinese company, product listings in Russian, and the goods.
The infrastructure for this is already extensive: WB has 42 receiving warehouses in China and Hong Kong, while Ozon Global has 189 drop-off points for the China route alone. Payouts are received in yuan via payment systems.
How the scheme works
- A seller account is registered on WB or Ozon Global using a Chinese company.
- Product listings are created in Russian.
- Goods are packed according to marketplace requirements and dropped off at a warehouse or collection point in China — Guangzhou, Yiwu, Shenzhen, Dongguan, and dozens of other cities.
- The marketplace transports the goods to Russia, clears customs, and pays duties.
- The buyer receives the order, and the seller receives the payout in yuan via a payment system (LianLian Pay, Payful, and others).
All seller operations take place within China. Cargo carriers, Russian fulfillment centers, and local legal entities are not involved in this scheme — this is what distinguishes the cross-border model from "standard" marketplace entry.
What the marketplace charges: real-time figures
The WB commission for Chinese accounts depends on the product category. Currently, the range in the directory is from 1,5% to 26%, with a median of 21%. For popular categories, the situation is as follows:
| Section | Category | Commission (China) |
|---|---|---|
Ozon Global's rate is also tied to the price of the product in yuan: for prices up to 1,500 ¥, the lower commission range of 6–12% applies; as the price increases, the rate rises. Live tables for both marketplaces: WB commissions and Ozon Global commissions.
Logistics: from 0 ¥ per kilogram
WB cross-border delivery is calculated using the formula: "rate per kilogram × weight + fee per order." The base rate for parcels weighing 0.4–20 kg is 0 ¥/kg + 0 ¥ per order: a 500g parcel costs 0 ¥, and a 1kg parcel costs 0 ¥. Express shipping from Hong Kong is 0 ¥/kg, which is the only route for goods with lithium batteries. All warehouses and rates: rate directory, ready-made calculations: cost by weight.
Ozon Global rFBS logistics are charged by the gram: a fixed portion plus a rate per gram, based on size and price groups. There is also OGL's own logistics — Ozon actively promotes it with prices 14% lower than rFBS Economy and allows for batteries.
How it differs from selling through a Russian legal entity
A fair comparison can only be made by looking at the cost structure. For a seller with a Russian legal entity, the price includes: procurement with delivery from China, WB category commission, WB services beyond the base rate, WB logistics to the buyer, tax, and fulfillment (receiving, processing, storage) — and on top of the seller's price, the marketplace applies an SPP (constant buyer discount).
A Chinese account has significantly fewer cost items: category commission, cross-border logistics at a fixed rate, and Chinese company taxes. There are no separate invoices for storage and receiving in this model; the receiving warehouse in China handles final preparation.
Taxes for a Chinese company
A preferential regime applies to cross-border e-commerce in China: 1% VAT instead of the standard 13% and 5% corporate income tax instead of 25% for small businesses. These benefits are valid until December 31, 2027.
The threshold for a small business is 5 million yuan in revenue per year per legal entity. As long as the company stays within this limit, tax control is minimal.
What you need to get started
- A Chinese company with a business license 营业执照 — your own existing one or a new one; registration takes only a few days.
- A corporate bank account in a Chinese bank and a wallet in a payment system.
- For a WB account — a refundable security deposit of 10,000 yuan.
- Product listings in Russian: search rankings depend directly on their quality.
- The first batch of goods — or working on a made-to-order basis with procurement from 1688 after a sale.
Neither an INN, nor an OGRN, nor a Russian bank account is required: all registration and settlements are handled on the Chinese side.
